Fraxel® DUAL Fractional Laser Resurfacing is ideal for reducing wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage. Achieve smoother, younger-looking skin!
About the Fraxel® DUAL Laser
Fraxel DUAL is a non-ablative, fractional resurfacing technology with two different wavelengths (1550nm and 1927nm). As with other types of lasers, this laser targets water in the dermis (middle layer of your skin) by gently heating it to cause controlled thermal tissue damage. The laser creates microscopic columns of tissue injury across the treated area deep into your skin, stimulating collagen production so the skin can heal itself. Using two wavelengths allows the laser to treat both superficial depths of your skin while the other wavelength is used to go deeper into the skin. Because it is a fractional laser, it also treats a smaller area at a time, leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. This Fraxel DUAL treatment obtains results without the harsher treatment of an ablative laser, allowing for a shorter downtime.
These treatments are called skin resurfacing or skin rejuvenation for obvious reasons – they stimulate the growth of new cells to help smooth the skin by stimulating its natural collagen production. Your skin gets not only new cells but also collagen, which plumps the skin.
What Does the Fraxel DUAL Laser Treat?
This treatment helps improve skin tone, texture, and radiance. Here’s a list of what it can help with:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Brown spots
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Surgical scars
- Acne scars
- It also has FDA clearance to treat melasma (a skin condition characterized by patchy brown skin discoloration) and actinic keratosis (rough, scaly patches of skin that develop from years of sun exposure.)
The benefits of the Fraxel DUAL laser treatment are that it leaves you with smoother, younger, more radiant skin with minimal downtime and less risk of side effects compared to an ablative laser. You will typically see the benefits right after your treatment. The results will become more apparent as your skin continues to heal over the months.
Laser Hair Removal: Say goodbye to unwanted hair and hello to smooth, silky skin. Prepare now to be hair-free by next summer!
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Each individual hair in our body sits in a hair follicle within our skin, and each hair follicle grows hair through a “food supply.” This food supply gives all the nutrients the hair needs to grow and thrive. Each laser treatment will help destroy the food supply, resulting in thinning and reduced hair growth. The pigment in your hair absorbs light from the laser and converts it to heat. This heat is enough to damage the target hair follicle while the surrounding tissue is left untouched. The goal of the laser procedure is to damage the hair follicle beyond repair so that it will stop regenerating/creating new hair.
Lasers will only work on hair in the growth phase or anagen phase. This is the only time that the hair actually connects to the hair follicle. At any one time, the hair in your body goes through different phases. For that reason, when you go in for your first laser hair removal treatment, only about 20% of your hair will be affected. Depending on your goals, the best results are achieved with 6 to 12 treatments scheduled a few weeks apart to help entirely reduce the hair. In about a week, you can expect the hairs to fall out of the follicle on their own.
Can I Get Laser Hair Removal Anywhere on My Body?
Absolutely! If the area has hair, we can definitely treat it. Some areas we commonly treat include the upper lip, chin, legs, backs, toes, and more.
If you are concerned that laser treatments are painful, laser technology has come a long way and is much more tolerable than it was years ago. Most people compare it to feeling a rubber band snap against their skin. Of course, everyone’s pain level differs, and some areas are more sensitive than others. For your comfort, we can numb the site to be treated. After your treatment, you can expect some redness that usually dissipates within a few hours.
One of the benefits of laser hair removal is that each treatment takes little time. Of course, it depends on the area you are treating. For example, larger areas, such as the legs and back, can take up to an hour, while smaller areas, such as the upper lip and chin, can take as little as fifteen minutes. This makes it feasible to squeeze into your busy schedule.
